Ball State Golf Outing

Last weekend was the annual Ball State Women's Golf Outing. This weekend brings back so many memories. As a player, it was always the first weekend before school so we were so excited to be back in town! We had to work the event, meeting with fans and usually our families were there too. I loved being there, promoting our team and season. Since I have graduated it is important to support the team and also my friend Kelsey who is a coach there now. Now, I don't golf...I didn't even bring clubs...but I went... and it was a blast! Being with my old teammates, surrounded by something I still love was very refreshing. I also got to meet the new players and get to know them a bit...It flooded me with emotion, longing, excitement, friendship, competitiveness...and so on! Here are a few pictures from the weekend...GO CARDS!!!

Bailey

A tiny bit of love to our dog Bailey! I have a love/hate relationship with Bailey. She can be the most annoying, needing and sloppy dog, but she is also the sweetest, the cutest, most excited and loving dog. Even though she destroys my beautiful hardwood floors with her massive amounts dog hair and even though I take care of her, feed her, walk her, and take her to vet.... she would still pick Mark over me everytime...and I still love her. I let her on the bed and couch when I am not supposed to just so I can cuddle with her. It is ok when Mark is out of town because I know I can spoon with her all night. She listens so well and is so ridiculous it is hilarious!  She is such a good dog and I couldn't imagine our life without her!

A Nice Sunday Drive

We spent the weekend in Cincinnati to help celebrate my adorable nephew Alex's 3rd birthday. ( I'm sure I will be posting some pics soon). We had a great time with family. Matt and Lauren made the trip with Lilly and Diana and my parents were there. Talk about kid central, it was fun being all together but whoa was it chaos and loud. Sunday morning on our trip back home, we just sat in the car and didn't turn the radio on. We sat in silence and enjoyed it. (Maybe a sign we aren't ready for kids?!?!) I have always heard that men talk better in the car because they don't have to make eye contact and can just talk...I think I proved this theory true this morning. As we sat in the silence, Mark and I just started talking about everything under the sun. We talked about things going on currently in our life, the past and mainly about the future. It was fun to talk about our hopes and dreams. We each answered the question on what we wanted our life to be like in 3 years and in 5 years. What we wanted for our marriage, our personal family, our extended family, our house, our money, our cars, our plan. It made me smile to hear what he wanted and thought was important and I could care less about, vice versa. It was just fun to dream. It was fun to think about all the life we still have ahead of us. To talk about our "perfect situation" (even though I know there is no perfect and it won't go as planned) We have a lot of dreams, plans and coincidentally a lot of work ahead of us. The best part was really being in the moment and realizing there is no one else I would rather be sitting with, talking about this with or sharing my life with then Mark. Everything will be ok as long as he is by my side. Cheezy, but true. I decided to write down all we talked about in my own personal journal so we can look back on it one day. Here's to dreaming and more importantly LIVING!

Sweet Treats

I saw these Rice Krispie Treat Popsicles on Twig and Thistle and I think these are simple and fabulous. I think I am going to make these for my bridal shower at the end of this month. Dip them in chocolate and tie them with pink ribbon or some zebra stripe if I can find them. They will be pretty and delicious... check em out!

August Already???

I can't believe it is August already....Where has the summer gone? I am glad I don't have any kids going back to school, so I can use August as another month of summer. I was looking at my calendar and boy is August busy for us. We have 5 birthdays, 1 Anniversary, a golf outing, and wrap it all up is the bridal shower I'm throwing the last weekend in August. Somewhere in between there I am working my weekend and babysitting Lila. It is going to be crazy month, but a fun one. I have been seriously slacking on the meal planning and cooking around here, it has been a summer free for all. We made a big grocery trip last night so I am ready to go this month. I have been doing some browsing around Life As a Mom and she has a great section on freezer cooking and how to plan and stock your freezer. I am going to be trying some of this because as I look at the September calendar we have no free weekends already. I am trying shredded pork tonight. I plan on using it for dinner tonight and freezing 3 bags of shredded meat, I can use for taco's and pulled pork sandwiches later on in the month. Hoping to get 4 meals out of this for around $3 a piece. I'll let ya know how it goes. Happy August.
